hypotension, ischaemia, myocardial ischaemia , palpitations, peripheral vascular disorder, shock . Eye: altered vision, conjunctivitis, eye disorder, eye pain. GI: chelitis, diarrhoea, dysphagia, glossitis, nausea, vomiting. GU: incontinence, contrast medium– induced nephrotoxicity , renal failure , urinary urgency. Musculoskeletal: asthenia. Psychiatric: confusion. Respiratory: apnoea , asthma, cough, dyspnoea, laryngeal oedema, pharyngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infection. Skin: angio-oedema , erythema, hirsutism, injection site pain, pruritus, rash, urticaria. Other: anaphylactic reaction , fever, hypersensitivity reactions, iodism, malaise, pyrexia. Interactions Drug-drug. Metformin/biguanides: Potential transient impairment of renal function with possible lactic acidosis. Should be discontinued 48 hours prior to procedure. Interleukin-2: Increased risk of delayed reactions. Monitor closely. Beta blockers: Atypical anaphylaxis. Monitor closely. Neuroleptics and phenothiazine derivative antidepressants: Reduce seizure threshold. Should be discontinued 48 hours prior to and not resumed for 24 hours following procedure. Nephrotoxicdrugs: Administration shouldbe delayed until media has cleared the body. Drug-lifestyle. Alcohol: Possibility of development of CNS disorders. Exercise caution. Drugs of addiction: Possible reduced seizure threshold. Exercise caution. Contraindications Contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to the preparation or a history of serious hypersensitivity to iomeprol, in those with acute inflammation
• Ensure the person is well-hydrated before and after the procedure to avoid contrast- induced nephropathy. • Observe for signs of lactic acidosis. • Assess mental status. • Ensure safety if the person is light-headed. • Thyroid function testsmay be reduced for up to several weeks. Patient teaching • Advise person to report any adverse effects. • Advise person to take care when standing up or getting out of bed due to potential dizziness.
