• Call to action from IOM for 80% of nursing workforce to hold a BSN degree by 2020 • Schools turning away qualified applicants due to lack of faculty and clinical sites • Curriculum overwhelming and redundant • Schools not producing what is needed in today’s workforce • Post graduate training needs are significant • Nurse educators are searching for new ways to engage their students due to new learning styles: self-directed, immersive • Integration of clinical experiences into the classroom produce a better result • Instructors are “opting-out” of change process creating more challenges for the lack of faculty • Those who stay are in overwhelm and have anxiety over change
