How to set up Trial?
We need to check the availability and timings of the faculty before setting up the trial. It can be set up either for Institutional or Individual basis. For Institutional Trial: We need to have a Static IP address* & takes 48-72 hours for set up. For Individual Trial: we can set up the trial by providing user id and password. It can be done 48 hours which can be extended to 1-month by giving the details to Ramya.
*Difference between Static & IP Addresses Static IP addressing is for one customer on one IP address and Dynamic IP addressing assigns a different IP address each time
Infrastructure Required • Internet connection • Adobe Flash Player (download link http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html)

Who is Robert Acland?
Dr. Robert D. Acland, FCRS is a professor emeritus in the Department of Anatomical Sciences at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He’s a microsurgeon and clinical anatomist, invested more than 11,000 hours in the production alone of these indepth anatomy videos that have now been optimized for the web and for mobile and tablet devices. He gained his expertise in instructional video during his first career, as a pioneer and teacher of microsurgical techniques. In his second career as a clinical anatomist, Dr. Acland directs his school's renowned Fresh Tissue Dissection Laboratory, where he teaches anatomy to students and surgeons, and pursues anatomical research. Working with fresh, unembalmed cadavers, Dr. Acland has pioneered new and highly effective techniques of anatomical videography that give the viewer a clear three- dimensional understanding of spatial relationships.

AclandAnatomy.com
Introduction Acland Anatomy supports the teaching of anatomy with more than 300+ narrated videos (precisely 328 videos) of REAL cadaver specimens. This Video Atlas presents expertly dissected human specimens as 3-D objects — just as they appear in the living body. It can be used during lectures, for review purposes before or after lab, and as a supplement to dissection, particularly if access to cadavers is limited. This product can be used as a quick reference and access tool. Acland’s Video Atlas is a virtual anatomy lab at your fingertips. • The hardest challenge for anyone studying anatomy is trying to understand a complex 3-D structure without having 3-D learning tools. It is difficult to form a 3-D image by looking at pictures in the book or static images on a monitor. • Fresh human specimens in their natural colors - The Video Atlas images are direct video recordings of real human anatomic specimens. The cadavers used were not stiffened or discolored by embalming. • Real movement – The Video Atlas shows moving structures – muscles, tendons and joints - making the same movements that they make in life. • Review sections - Throughout each program there are brief review sections that let you test yourself on what you have seen in the preceding 10-15 minutes. Mosby’s Nursing Skills Points of Distinction
1.) Clinical Focus Primary Purpose
• Point of Care Reference (can be used at the bedside) • Single source to house Nursing policies and procedures • Orientation and Training
Orientation and Training
According to research, nurses use reference tools most often when they are at the bedside. That’s why LP was designed as a Point of Care tool: it’s easy to access the tool and to find information quickly. We hear ease of use is one of the selling points for LP over Mosby. LP is written for the practicing nurse- by the practicing nurse- not for a student nursing textbook. Also the skills are written for LP and not just an excerpt after a book publishes.
Content Source
LP was authored by clinical nurses for clinical nurses. These are nurse experts in the field and practicing procedures on a daily basis and so are best equipped to develop standard procedures for nurses. These subject matter experts do extensive literature searches to build the procedures from the most relevant evidence based references. The content creation is evidence- based, peer-reviewed, and current.
A compilation of procedures from nursing textbooks. The main source book (Potter) is created for nursing education and not clinical practice: Perry & Potter, Clinical Nursing Skills & Techniques, 7e © 2010 Proehl, Emergency Nursing Procedures, 4e © 2009

Clinical Specialties
Medical Surgical Critical Care Emergency Maternal-Neonatal Pediatrics Behavioral Health Perioperative
General Critical Care Emergency Maternal-Neonatal Pediatric (extra) Perioperative (extra) Mental Health Oncology
Here LP outshines Mosby’s by offering a full selection of procedures in all the specialty areas needed to practice in a hospital setting.
Number of Procedures
1400+
1054 if you include the optional pediatric and perioperative procedures. Pediatric skills and perioperative skills are an additional charge. Mosby’s Nursing Skills updates are typically tied to the book updates.
Lippincott's Procedures continues to extend its procedure offerings and is now the only resource to offer a full series of behavioral health procedures and fuller perioperative content. Mosby’s content is primarily tied to book updates and so brings into question how often they are reviewed against current standards and evidence. All LP procedures have the evidence- based references cited at the end of the procedure. Mosby’s is typically tied to the books and likely are citing the references that are associated with the book update. Pediatric content in particular has not been updated in a while in Mosby.
Evidence Based
All LP procedures have the evidence-based references cited at the end of the procedure and have in-text citations linking the particular steps to their reference. We have begun ranking evidence- based references using Melnyk’s Rating System for the Hierarchy of Evidence.
Currency
All procedures in LP are reviewed at least annually but may be updated more frequently as warranted.
They claim all skills are reviewed at least every two years, and more frequently if new standards require it. All skills will be reviewed in conjunction with the new editions of the source text books.
We update annually. Mosby’s only every 2 years.

So the user has to click in different places to see this content, which must also be printed separately.
User testing demonstrates that the names of LWW sections and the tabs used to navigate the LWW product are very user-friendly and intuitive. LP also has the helpful menu on the right which Mosby doesn’t have. Mosby’s creates a more difficult user experience for nurses at the point of care. Because the organization of Mosby’s skills varies, users don’t always know where to look to find the information they need. And users need to click multiple places to get all the information they need (equipment, art, and video are all in separate

within the system as well. Tests can be customized or added.
Integration with a Learning Management System
LP competency tests are currently integrated with the HealthStream Learning Center so HS customers can assign and track all tests as courses in the HLC. In addition, we have options to integrate with other standard LMS applications as well. Many, but not all skills will include images-photos and drawings—that show how to perform the skill. All images are in full color.
Elsevier indicates that there are options for LMS integration available.
Images
Images in Mosby’s Nursing Skills are not embedded in the procedure so cannot be viewed within the procedure text. The user has to view and print them as a separate action.
Because images aren’t embedded in the text, users have to go to several different sections to obtain all the information they need. It is a very clunky user experience.
LP has a much easier user experience.
Video
387 video clips.
Unknown
Same as for images (above).
Many, but not all skills will include video clips showing critical steps of the skill being performed. Users can view the videos from within the procedure, and also on a separate video tab. Most clips include live humans to demonstrate steps
Videos are in a section titled, “Demos.” They are not embedded in the actual procedure.
Short video clips in LP focus on enabling the nurse to complete the task at point of care. Mosby’s is just animations so not particularly helpful for this.

Points of Distinction
Primary Purpose
Point of Care Quick Reference
General Online Nursing Reference
LA was designed as a Point of Care workflow tool: it’s easy to access and to find information quickly.
MNC supplies too much content and information to be used effectively as a daily workflow tool.
Content Source
Built on a monograph- based approach which focuses on the specific areas of content
A compilation of books and journals that users can search
Because Mosby content comes from different book and journal sources, nurses have to essentially do a book search and then scan through the results to see whether the answer has relevance. LA allows them to: Ability to access more than 2000 monographs (the majority of the information nurses need at the point of care) without reviewing an extended list of various books and articles that contain information on the topic searched. LA: Core nursing topics needed in daily workflow are available quickly for point of care needs. They can get to the information they need quickly. MNC- nurses need to make a decision which journal or book would have the information they need and then navigate there and then determine what information is relevant. All core topics are available as monographs with LA. Mosby information requires book or journal search primarily.
Areas covered
Drugs, Diseases, Diagnostic Tests, Signs & Symptoms, treatments, Patient teaching, Care Plans, Practice Guidelines, Access to Ovid books/journals with Ovid subscription
Drugs, 47 Diseases, Patient Teaching, News, Journals, Books, Practice Guidelines
Number of Monographs
More than 2000: 439 Diseases ~475 Diagnostic tests 195 Treatments 279 Signs and Symptoms 800+ Drugs ~179 Nursing Care Plans
47 disease monographs. Monographs are long and wordy. Of the 47, 4 are actually Signs and Symptoms, not Diseases.
Evidence Based
Evidence based references support all the disease, diagnostic test, and treatment monographs.
Mosby’s Nursing Consult is a compilation of older books plus journals. Only 47 Evidence-based monographs are in the program. Some journal articles are evidence-based.
LA is thoroughly evidence-based. MNC only skims the surface.

Disease, Drug, and Treatment information will be updated annually on a rolling quarterly review process. Signs and Symptoms information and Diagnostic Tests information is updated every 3 years.
Books are updated when new editions of the title are published. Typically the online version of the new edition is available a few months after the print version is published. New and updated Clinical Updates are typically uploaded monthly. All Clinical Updates are reviewed every two years or less to assure validity and accuracy. • Drug Monographs are updated daily. • Drug Updates are updated once per week.
Journals are updated daily – new full-text articles are added on a daily basis.
Mosby’s Nursing Index MNI is updated with the same frequency as MEDLINE®. Updates are received and processed on a daily basis.
News is updated daily.
New or revised patient education handouts are uploaded onto Mosby's Nursing Consult twice a year. New and updated Practice Guidelines are typically uploaded monthly. Important changes to clinical procedures can be identified at any time and changes made as frequently as needed

Search and Results
Enhanced search returns a list of results containing the search term and number of results. Results are categorized by source (monographs, by type; patient handouts, MEDLINE, and National Guidelines). Consistent format in every monograph Images, cross links to relevant content are included at the menu at the right as well as are included in the monograph body.
Search entire site or by category (drugs, books, evidenced-based nursing, journals, guidelines, patient education, clinical updates, images and news). Advanced
LA provides more specialized queries, which provides a more successful search.
Search allows query with a focus (diagnosis, treatment, etiology, prognosis, or any).
Format
Book and journal oriented. Each book and journal formatted differently. 46 diseases monographs are included- those are consistently formatted.
Mosby’s creates a more difficult user experience for nurses at the point of care.
Users don’t always know where to look to find the information they need in MNC. In LA, there’s no searching through long textbook articles or complicated chains to get to the relevant information. In seconds you see what you’re looking for. LA has consistent use of terms across all topic areas. This means that the most medically acceptable terminology is used across topic areas, for example, acute respiratory distress syndrome, the more medically accepted term, is used in all topic areas instead of a mix of acute respiratory distress syndrome and adult respiratory distress syndrome. Many facilities already have access to patient handouts and may not wish to have additional conflicting resources.
