DESCRIPTION

The interactive vSim scenarios permit students to try their clinical reasoning skills by treating a patient in a virtual, safe environment, conducting assessments, communicating with the patient, interpreting orders, conducting interventions, and administering medication. Nursing students need experience practicing their clinical decision making skills in a safe environment, as often as possible. Simulation labs, while extremely valuable, have natural limitations for instructors and students. vSim for Nursing represents the opportunity to integrate application-based learning in the classroom, and independently by providing virtual simulation. KEY FEATURES SmartSense links provide remediation to Lippincott Advisor and Lippincott Procedures so students can have the most up-to-date, evidence-based practice information to ensure the care they are providing is current and based on the latest evidence. Pre-Simulation Quizzes allow students to identify areas they need to understand better before entering the Simulation and seeing the patient. Post-Simulation Quizzes allow students see if they have learned key concepts from the scenario. Documentation Assignments allow students to practice the use of an Electronic Health Record when vSim is paired with Lippincott DocuCare. Documentation questions are provided for consideration. Guided Reflection Questions help students and instructors to discuss want went well in a simulation and what can be improved, adding critical thinking to overall student understanding.
