This textbook is dedicated to the memories of:

George Ofori-Amanfo, MD, April 4, 1962–December 30, 2021.

Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. Dr. Ofori-Amanfo was the primary author of the chapter “Hypertensive Crisis” for the 4th and 5th editions. Hector R. Wong, MD, March 6, 1963–January 23, 2022. Division Director of Pediatric Critical Care and Vice-Chair of Pediatrics at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Dr. Wong was the section editor for Section V: Basic Science Concepts of Pediatric Critical Care and a coauthor of the chapter “Cellular Adaptations to Stress” for both the 4th and 5th editions.
