Preface
to my co-attendings—a world-class group who always have each other’s backs, to our Sim Center Team—I cherished each of you and am proud of how we showed up, to my research partners—we have done some amazing work in some pretty fabulous places—truly the best of academics, to my sisters Amy, Susan, and Jennie—you are each extraordinary and I thank you for walking with me at my lowest and celebrating my wins—they are sweeter when you are with me, to my Mom and Dad—you taught me by example how to work hard, do the right thing, speak up, and to lead. I know Mama would be over the moon about my role as an editor of this book. Finally, to my beloved husband Chris—you are my rock, the light of my life, and the best thing that has ever happened to me. The book is done—more time for us!
ROBERT C. TASKER Such a privilege to have been taught as fellows by Drs Mark Rogers and David Nichols, and now to work with editors all of whom spent time being educated together at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. This new edition of the textbook now fully realizes the vision of our teachers, and thanks to our families we have been a part of this major en deavor. The world is a smaller place, and our knowledge and content experts are worldwide. Enjoy! Robert C.
