Rockwood, Green, and Wilkins' Fractures, 10e Package
PREFACE
The quantity of information available to pediatric musculoskel etal caregivers, surgeons, and researchers continues to acceler ate in the 21st century. Learners and practitioners at all stages of their careers need expertise to guide them in decision making and technical performance. Even in the world of short operative videos and small size knowledge content, we believe detailed, filtered evidence by subject matter experts with clear direc tion on the present state-of-the-art care for injured children is important and impactful. Our goal is that the 10th edition of Rockwood and Wilkins’ Fractures in Children enhances your care delivery for your patients. In each chapter, subject matter experts offer their over views and analyses of existing clinical research and provide the very best evidence-based recommendations possible. The “author’s preferred method” at the end of each chapter serves as a concise and practical algorithm for treating children with fractures and dislocations. There is in-depth content as well as callouts, including check lists for preoperative planning and key surgical steps, tables of potential pitfalls and preventative measures, and short lists of key annotated references. We have retained the author’s pre ferred treatment section, which has been popular since its intro duction several editions ago.
This 10th edition continues our partnership with the Or thopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) as the official publication of the OTA, and is a foundational component in OTAOnline , an electronic knowledge portal that brings together Rockwood, Green, and Wilkins Fractures in Adults and Children; Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma , an extensive orthopaedic trauma video library; and OTA International (an open access journal) and routine updates. This edition is a transition volume. The senior editors (PW, DS, JF) have been honored to work together on editions 7 through now 10. We started our Rockwood and Wilkins jour ney as Associate Editors with Drs. Beaty and Kasser; and now have the good fortune to be joined by Associate Editors Drs. Lindsay Andras, Don Bae, Keith Baldwin, and Jon Schoneck er. Your learning is in good hands going forward. We all col laborated in our relentless desire to help you improve your patient care for injured children. We know and appreciate how well you do your jobs, how hard you work, and how much you care.
