Eardrum
An abnormalgrowthofboneof the inner ear involving the stapes and cochlea. Otosclerosisprevents the stapes from movingproperly and causeshearing loss. It can also cause a sensorineural hearing losswhen it involves the cochlea.
This operation aims to improvehearing by replacing the fixed stapeswith amobile pistonprosthesis.
Asurgeryperformed to reconstruct aperforated tympanic membrane (eardrum)or the small bonesof themiddle ear.
