AAOS Comprehensive Orthopaedic Review 4: Print + Ebook (AAOS - American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons)
Preface
Self-assessment is an integral part of preparing for exam inations. Residents or practicing orthopaedic surgeons with limited hours available for examination prepara tion can find the prospect of reviewing the entire field of orthopaedics a nearly impossible task. This set of study questions, organized into 10 content areas, is provided to help focus the reader’s efforts. By self-testing, the reader can identify areas of relative strength and weak ness and devote more time to areas needing attention, both by a close reading of the appropriate section of AAOS Comprehensive Orthopaedic Review 4 and by exploring the additional reading provided in the refer ences listed for each study question. The study questions in this book are taken from sev eral Orthopaedic Self-Assessment Examinations (OSAEs) from 2017, 2018, and 2019 and the 2017 Orthopaedic In-Training Examination (OITE), published by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). I am grateful to the section editors who, in addition to their considerable duties in editing the review book, reviewed potential questions for accuracy of con tent and selected those they judged most important to include in this volume: Lisa Taitsman, MD, FAAOS; Nathanael Heckmann, MD; Gregory Schroeder, MD;
Jason W. Savage, MD; Megan Conti Mica, MD, FAAOS; Luke Nicholson, MD; Chad Krueger, MD, FAAOS; Elizabeth Gausden, MD, MPH; Jaimo Ahn MD, PhD, FAAOS; John Elfar, MD, FAAOS; Matthew Saltzman, MD, FAAOS; Sara Edwards, MD, FAAOS; Julius Bishop, MD, FAAOS; Sean Campbell, MD; Brian Weatherford, MD, FAAOS; Jonathan Kaplan, MD, FAAOS; Kristofer J. I also want to thank the publications staff at AAOS and Wolters Kluwer for their support. Our goal was to provide the reader with the opportunity to truly assess the information that they have gained from studying the accompanying text. We hope that after reviewing these questions you agree that we have accomplished this objective.
